Welcome to the National Convention
Sunday 27th September 2009 to Saturday 3rd October 2009 ST BRIGID'S COLLEGE, Lesmurdie Road, Lesmurdie WA
Situated in the Lesmurdie Hills, only 25 minutes from Perth WA is a ladies College, which takes its name from an Irish Saint- it is St Brigid's. This will be 'home' to the ASG for their 2009 National Convention.
What a magical time of the year to be visiting Perth - it is Wildflower season and a perfect time for a family holiday. There is a wonderful programme organised with a talented line up of inspirational tutors from Western Australia, South Australia and New South Wales.
Sunday night will see us all excited and looking forward to our upcoming week of sewing and learning. You will be able to unpack your things and settle in as well as complete your orientation. You will be able to sort your sewing needs and machines into your classroom ready for the following day and then it will be time to relax. We would then like to invite you for pre dinner drinks and a chance to catch with old friends and meet new ones. After dinner you will participate in a “getting to know you” game which will involve mixing, talking and asking questions of your fellow colleagues.
Monday night will see you taxing your creative genius to create a human paper doll from odds and ends given you. This proved to be a very enjoyable event in Brisbane.
On Tuesday night we will have the opportunity to view some sewing machines from as far back as the 1800's, and also learn some of the history.
Wednesday will afford you the opportunity of a choice of bus tours and, in preparation for Wednesday evening you had best start practicing your 'belly dancing' so you can join in the fun with Dixie and her girls.
Guess what! There is a special Challenge for members in the form of the Krazy Kaftan Challenge and parade. This will be held on Thursday evening, which promises to be an evening of inspirational garments! Have a look at the interesting article History of the Kaftan.
Friday evening is our last night together, where we will view all the wonderful items we have made during the week and say our farewells till Ballarat 2010.
The Committee looks forward to you joining them in the Lesmurdie Hills in 2009.
