WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION - In this workshop, participants will construct a wrap-around skirt almost entirely on the overlocker.  The skirt has 8 gores and 2 layers with a feature front panel and waistband.  The focus is all about featuring the seams on the outside of the skirt.  The ties are turned using the overlocker.  A sewing machine is needed only to stitch on the ties.

KIT CONTENTS (provided by tutor):

  • skirt pattern

STUDENT SUPPLY LIST:

  • foot control and accessories if bringing your own overlocker
  • spare needles if bringing your own overlocker
  • dressmaking scissors
  • tape measure
  • marking chalk
  • pins
  • fabric -denim or a mid-weight linen is ideal for the band and feature front panel.  Light-weight woven fabric for the skirt body. 
  • 2 spools of good quality woolly nylon, Soft Loc or Seraflock - can be the same colour or two different colours which coordinate with chosen fabric
  • 1 spool good quality polyester overlocking thread to match the upper looper thread colour 

OVERLOCKER REQUIRED (in good working order)

A sewing machine will be available if you are not able to bring your own.  You do not need to hire a sewing machine for this workshop.
